Thank you to all those who submitted for allowing us to consider your work for the Editors’ Prizes. This year, we received over 300 submissions in each genre, and our team of readers pored over every page. While the high quality of submissions this year meant our decision was difficult to make, we have at last decided on two winners.
In fiction, congratulations to Seulmi Lee for her story “Virgin Ghost on North Korean Border”
In poetry, congratulations to Osel Jessica Plante for her poem “It’s Not an Apocalypse if the Horses are Mortal”
The following stories were on our shortlist for the Fiction Prize:
Puloma Ghosh – ‘The Island’
Jeannete Topar – ‘Descent’
Jacob McCabe – ‘Dress Code’
Jeremy Schnotala – ‘Flower World’
And here is our poetry shortlist:
David Welch – ‘Self Portrait as Horizon
Amanda Jane McConon – ‘Stones’
Aaron Fischer – ‘Long Point Lake’
Maari Carter – ‘Somewhere in South Dakota’
Thank you so much for submitting your work and supporting Meridian. We hope you’ll consider submitting to us during our general reading period–and send us your best for next year’s contest!
Congratulations again to our winners!
